We're an independent small business, 100% black-owned operating from our store in the eclectic arts space, Arts on Main, in the precinct of Maboneng Johannesburg. We operate without Government funding, bank loans or handouts. We source quality products from local entrepreneurs and designers - 91% are Black, 67% are Women. Most of our suppliers live in South Africa with about 10% coming from across the African Continent.
We take your Dollars, Euros and Rands and put them back into the local economy by supporting at least 50 small businesses who in turn employ local staff to produce the handcrafted products you’ll find here. So thank you for buying local & supporting our business.
Buying handmade in Africa does not mean buying cheap. What you’re buying has been created with limited resources and unlimited creativity, hours of hard work and years of failures. When you buy here, you’re giving our designers time to continue doing what they’re passionate about while they live with the realities of being self-employed.
Our suppliers send money home, provide for their families and grow their own brands when you support our business. We in turn pay rent, taxes & commissions and commit to finding more local designers to expand our product offering while growing our own business. We offer personalised service and unique products you’ll only find in this store.
Every purchase no matter how small makes a huge difference, so thank you for investing in our business & joining the #handmade #buyafrica #supportsmallbusiness movement.
